Mechanical Engineering - General Events Calendar
To foster a rich intellectual environment, members of the Department of
Mechanical Engineering are involved in several different seminar series.
Scholars from around the US and the world are regularly invited to present
their newest research results. Covering all aspects of Mechanical Engineering,
the Department's main seminar series takes place on Thursdays afternoon,
every week during the academic year. Varied topics in fluid mechanics
applications in engineering and the environment are addressed in the CEAFM
(Center for Environmental and Applied Fluid Mechanics) seminar series
that takes place Friday mornings. Research seminars in a wide range of
topics including nanomaterials, computational mechanics, functionally
graded materials, and impact and dynamic phenomena are presented as part
of the CAMCS (Center for Advanced Metallic and Ceramic Systems) seminar
series on Friday afternoons. Robotics seminars that emphasize the use
of imaging, robotics, and computation in the assistance of physicians
in doing medical procedures are held Wednesdays with CISST (Center for
Computer Integrated Surgical Systems and Technology). The Center for Scientific
Computing holds seminars every two weeks on Mondays. More informal seminar
series include the Friday Solids Seminars and the Fridays
thermo-fluids seminars, where graduate students, postdoctoral fellows
and visiting scholars have the opportunity to present and discuss their
most recent results in a setting that fosters active exchange of ideas.
