Postdoctoral Position in Cancer Biomarker Detection

A postdoctoral position is available to join a cutting-edge cancer research project conducted by an interdisciplinary research team situated in Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, Institute of NanoBioTechnology and Whitaker Biomedical Engineering Institute at the Johns Hopkins University. The project focuses on developing novel technologies to epigenetic biomarker detection of cancer. The fellow will be responsible for developing and applying nanotechnology (quantum dot and magnetic nanoparticles)-based methods for DNA methylation analysis and examine the clinical utility of DNA methylation as a surrogate marker for cancer detection and prediction of therapeutic outcome. For related work of our laboratories, please see Clin Chem (2010) 56:1022-25; Genome Res (2009) 19:1455-61; New Engl J Med (2008) 358:1118-1128, Nat Mater (2005) 4:826-32, Science (1997) 277:1948-49, PNAS (1996) 93:9821-26. We seek highly motivated, enthusiastic individuals who have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree with less than 2 years of postdoctoral experience in biochemistry, cancer biology, biological science, biomedical engineering, or related fields. Experiences with developing and troubleshooting protocols for epigenome analysis techniques, such as methylation-specific PCR and bisulfite sequencing are desired.
